Salt as Home Remedy for Eye Bags

Eyes are tagged as where beauty resides. It is also the tool where people can see the things around. But, eyes are also prone to various diseases and irregularities. One of those is eye bags.
Eye Bags can be easily noticed as a lumpy mass below the eyelids. This can be contacted due to lack of sleep, bad make-up removal style and aging which cannot be dealt with ease.

Causes of Eye Bags

  • Normal aging
  • Heredity (genetic
  • Water retention
  • Eating salty foods
  • Staying up all night
  • Allergic reaction
  • Build up of toxins in the body
  • Hormonal changes during menstruation

More serious causes:
Eye bags may be a sign of a thyroid problem known as Graves’ disease and/or an indication of a kidney problem.


Home Remedies / Treatment for Eye Bags

Hot Pack (advisable at nighttime before going to sleep)

Olive Oil – Heat a small amount of olive oil and apply some under the lower eyelid using cotton or cotton buds. Keep the sticks under the lower eyelid for a minute and pat the lower eyelid to help your face absorb the olive oil. Gently massage under the lower eyelid for this could also help.

Salt and water mixture – Have a glass of hot water and add some salt. Adjust salt that added into the hot water to suit the need but, be sure not too salty.  Cut cotton pads into the shape of eye masks and soak in the salty water.  Wear the masks five to ten minutes.

Cold Pack (advisable during daytime)

Spoon – Freeze two spoons in the freezer; take the spoons out of the freezer ten minutes later. Press the spoons onto the eye bags.

Tea Bags – Freeze two tea bags; while freezing apply some olive oil to the eye bags; take the tea bags out of the freezer after about 10 minutes later. Apply in the tea bags in the eye bags. Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes

Face Towel – Fill basin with water; add a drop each of rosemary oil extract and rose extract. Soak a Face towel in the water and then wring the towel and lay it on the eyes. Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes.

Potato
Slice a medium sized potato or a slice that can fit over the eyes. Apply some water in the eye areas and in lying down position, place the sliced potato in the eyelids. Let stand for 10 minutes.

Papaya
Eating ripe papaya can minimize Eye bags

Other Suggestions for Eye Bags

Eat Balanced and healthy food
Avoid salty and fatty foods
Avoid alcoholic drinks
Have a good night sleep at least 8 hours a day
Drink water at least 8 glasses a day mostly during the day time
