Acne is the most common skin disease. It is a disorder resulting from the action of hormones and other substances on the skin’s oil glands (sebaceous glands) and hair follicles. Nearly 17 million people in the United States are affected with acne.

Acne is not a serious health threat but severe cases of ruptured pimples can cause scars. Most common sites of acne are on the face, neck, chests, back, and shoulders.

During puberties, it may take the form of a comedo, an enlarged hair follicle. Whiteheads (which stays under the surface of the skin), or Blackheads (which rise to the skin’s surface and look black) are the two forms of comedo.

Acnes may cause slight swelling of the skin, also known as pimples.

    Types of pimples are:

    • Papules - which are small, pink bumps
    • Pustules - which are red lesions filled with pus
    • Nodules - large, painful lesions in the skin
    • Cysts - deep, painful lesions that can cause scars

    Natural Treatments

    Oatmeal:
Cook oatmeal and apply it as face paste. Leave it for fifteen minutes, and then wash with cold running water.

    Rosemary:
Add rosemary water in your warm bath. It will help reduce the appearance acne.

    Lemon Juice and Water:
Place an equal amount of lemon juice and rose water in the cotton ball then dab it in your face. Leave for half an hour and wash. Repeat procedure for 15-20 days.

    Garlic:
Rub the acne with garlic cloves several times a day.

    Avocado:
Wash face with avocado paste mixed with water.

    Radish:
Eat a medium-sized grated radish every meal.

    Rosemary:
Drink 2 cups of rosemary tea

    Lemon and Honey:
Drink 3 glasses of water with squeezed lemon and honey.

    Yeast and Lemon:
Mix 1 tablespoon of dried or fresh yeast with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice; apply on face, wait until it gets hard (try not to move), peel or wash with warm water.

    Vinegar and Lemon Juice:
During cleansing, soak a cotton ball in either lemon juice or apple cider vinegar and apply it on your face.

    Basil and Tea:
Mix 2-3 tea bags to some basil and cook in boiling water for 10-20 minutes. Then apply on the acne with a cotton ball.

    Lettuce:
Soak lettuce leaves in water for a few minutes, and then use the water to rinse face and acne.

    Bay Leaves:
Grind bay leaves in water. Leave to chill and apply it on the affected area.

    Boiled Water and Vinegar:
Boil water in a pan while adding some apple cider vinegar at the same time. Put a towel on your head and bend over the pan to capture the steam in your face.

    Vinegar:
Clean your face every morning with cotton ball soaked in vinegar. It might sting so try it on a small affected part first.

    Carrot & Cucumber:
Drink carrot/cucumber juice or eat carrots/cucumbers.

    Egg White:
Dip a cotton ball in egg whites and apply it on clean face. Wait for a few hours then wash.
    Cucumber:
Make cucumber juice and apply it on your face using cotton wool pads.

    Sugar:
Mix 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of white sugar in a bowl. Add a little amount of water before rubbing the mixture in your face.

    For Acne Scars

    • Mix 1 tablespoon of sour cream (choose those with 0% fat for oily face), 1 tablespoon of yogurt, 1 tablespoon of grind oatmeal and 3-4 drops of lemon juice. Apply on face, leave for 10 minutes and wash off.
    • Using a blender, make a mixture out of 1 peeled apple with 1 tablespoon of yogurt, half a cucumber and 1 tablespoon of honey. Apply on face, leave for 20 minutes and wash off with warm water.
    • Daub some salty water in the affected area for buttock zits.
    • Dabbing some toothpaste on the affected area will help turn the acne dry and disappear quickly.
