Bloating is characterized by an abnormal swelling, or increase in diameter of the abdominal area. Person experiencing such condition always feel full and tight abdomen, which can cause abdominal pain

Symptoms

Causes

  • Visceral fat
  • Constipation
  • Overeating
  • Food allergy
  • Diverticulosis
  • Abdominal Tumors
  • Lactose intolerance
  • Aerophagia (air swallowing)
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Partial bowel obstruction
  • Gas-producing foods
  • Splenic-flexure syndrome
  • Accumulation of liquids and intestinal gas
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome and ovarian cysts
  • Gastric dumping syndrome or rapid gastric emptying
  • Excessive accumulation of liquid inside the cavity of the abdomen
  • Menstruation, dysmenorrhea and premenstrual stress syndrome
  • Infestation of intestinal parasites, such as worms (e.g, Ascaris)

Treatment

Activated charcoal:
In tablet form can be taken before and after meals to prevent gas bloating

Lemon juice: Mix lemon juice or apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. Take it before each meal to prevent stomach acidity.

Mint essence:
Every 3-4 hours, mix 2-3 drops of mint essence in a glass of water and drink it.

Ginger:
Prepare some ginger tea and take it after meals to promote good digestion.

Herbal teas:
Blackberry, raspberry, mint or chamomile flavored herbal teas are effective remedies for bloating/indigestion.

Honey:
Mix equal parts of honey and lemon juice to make one glass of this mixture.

Prevention

Eat meals regularly and on time
Chew your foods slowly and properly
Exercise regularly to stimulate digestive tract activities
Avoid do physically challenging sports immediately after taking meals.
