Boils
Boils are infections of the hair follicles of the skin. They are tender, inflamed, pus-filled swelling surrounded by large area of reddened skin. They are particularly painful in areas close to the underlying skin tissues such as the nose, ears, or fingers. This infection is usually present in teenagers and young adults. Common sites for boils are the face, neck, buttocks, and thighs.
Symptoms
Symptoms may initially appear as a painful red nodule on the skin. It will grow larger at a later stage, then gives out a discharge at the center lump where the pus is collected. The patient may experience a great deal of irritation and itching. The swelling may occur in one area of it may scatter to several body parts.
The patient may also experience a feverish condition when affected by boils.
Causes
It is mainly caused by the Staphylococcus bacteria that enters through the tiny opening in the sweat glands or hair follicles.
Faulty diet and a frenzied state of living leave the blood stream in a toxic condition which is the chief factor in acquiring boils. However, boils generally appear in an unsanitary living condition.
Home Remedies
Garlic: Garlic or onion juice can be applied on boils to fasten the growth of pus to discharge it. Ripen. Eating 2-3 cloves of garlic during meals can also help.
Bitter Gourd: Mix a cup of fresh bitter gourd with a teaspoon of limejuice. This treatment could be done by slowly taking a few sips of this juice on an empty stomach everyday for a few months.
Milk Cream: Make a poultice by mixing 1 teaspoon of milk cream, half a teaspoon of vinegar, and a pinch of turmeric powder. This will help ripe the boils and prevent it from becoming toxic due to prolonged condition.
Betel Herb: Heat betel leaves to soften it before coating it with castor oil. Spread over the affected part. Replace the leaf every few hours. After a few applications, the boils with quickly drain itself and remove the toxic substances in the body.
Cumin Seeds: Ground cumin seeds and mix it with water to make a paste. Apply this paste to the boils.
Margosa Leaves: Margosa leaves can be applied as a treatment in many ways. To make the decoction, boil15 gm of margosa leaves in 500 ml of water until the water is lowered to one-thirds. To make a poultice, simmer the leaves in boiling water until it is soft and juicy. Wrap it with clean muslin or linen cloth before treating the boils with it. You can make a liniment out of it.
Turmeric Powder: Applying turmeric powder on boils speeds up the healing process. In the case of fresh boils, roast a few dry roots of turmeric, dilute the ashes in a cupful of water, and then applied over the affected portion. This solution enables the boils to ripen and burst.
Diet
Orange Juice Diet: Cleanse the whole body system by undertaking an orange juice diet. To prepare this diet, diluted orange juice with water on a 50:50 proportion for 3-4 days. You can also try using other fruit juice diet for 5-7 days.
Healthy Diet: After the short juice diet, the patient should take a diet consisting of wholegrain cereals, fresh fruits and raw vegetables. Follow with another juice diet if necessary.
Avoid drinking tea or coffee, eating starchy and sugary foods, especially cakes, pastries, sweets, chocolates, white sugar, and white bread. Also, avoid all condiments, pickles, and sauces.
Other Treatments
Administer a warm-water enema everyday while taking the first juice diet to cleanse the intestines.
Apply moist and warm compress 3 or 4 times a day on the affected area. This will easily drain the boils.
Take a hot Epsom salt bath 2 or 3 times in a week to hinder the appearance of boils. Do it once a week afterwards.
Do a dry massage on the area every morning. Alternately use a cold sponge afterwards.
Do a lot breathing exercises and outdoor exercises in a place abundant with fresh air to tone up the body.
Avoid all having constipation as much as possible.
