Blepharitis
Blepharitis is characterized by chronic inflammation of the eyelids. It is one of the most common disorder of the eye and is often the underlying reason for eye discomfort, redness and tearing..
Three forms of Blepharitis:
- Staphylococcal – usually occurs in young age
- Seborrheic – occurs in older people with known ocular symptoms
- MGD(Meibomian Gland Dysfunction) - in older people with known ocular symptoms
All three forms of Blepharitis are chronic
Symptoms
- Staphylococcal – scaling and crusting along the eyelashes
- Seborrheic – greasy scaling along the eyelashes
- MGD - prominent blood vessels crossing the eyelid margin
Other symptoms:
- Burning
- Itching
- Light sensitivity
- Irritating sensation when waking up
Treatment
Blepharitis is a chronic disease for which there is no cure; it also requires long-term treatment to manage it under control. Treatment consists of acute phase and Maintenance phase
Warm Compresses
Soak a cloth in water and then placing the cloth on the lid surface eyelids
Neutrogena bar soap:
Lather is then applied with fingertips on the eyelid margin and eyelash bases for up to 1 minute

Home Remedies Solution






















My 3 yr old son has crustie build up or “sleep” around his left eye. There’s also redness in his retina but never really complains of pain. My doc seems to just always recommend some ointment that does very little to subside the issue. Are there any at home remedies that work well?
