Bursitis
Bursitis is the inflammation of bursa, a tiny sac filled with fluid found in nearly every joint of the body. The 150 bursae found in the body reduces the friction between the bones and the tendons, to help the joints to move freely. People suffering from bursitis feels extreme pain when moving their body due to the absence of bursa which acts as its lubricants. Bursitis mainly occurs on hip, ankle, knee, shoulder and elbow.
Symptoms:
There is presence of mild pain, redness, stiffness and swelling of the affected area. There is also a burning sensation around the wounded area. Thigh bones, or the femur, especially the greater trochanter may also add more painful discomfort of the patient.
Causes:
Bursitis is primarily caused by repetitive movement of the same body part which irritates or stresses the bursa. In such cases, arthritis, gout or an infection of a certain body part are linked to the cause of bursitis.
Home Remedies:
Mullein Tea: Soak a cloth in mullein tea and apply it on the affected area. Repeat this process at regular intervals.
Ice: Apply ice to the affected area to help reduce the pain and inflammation.
Lobelia Oil: Apply lobelia oil to the affected joints to prevent stiffness.
Other herbs: Chamomile, hops, and skullcap tea will help promotes the healing process.
Calcium: Consume more calcium and vitamin B12 to help reduce inflammation. Eat lots of food that are rich in magnesium such as green leafy vegetables
Honey: Mix apple cider vinegar and honey with water. Drink a cupful regularly to help relieve the patient from bursitis.
Other Suggestions:
Have a plenty of rest to speed up the recovery process. Avoid extrenuous exercises or performing excessive movements for it will aggravate the condition.
Applying ice pack to the inflamed area will help reduce the inflammation.
