Corns
Corns are usually small, and painful bumps that occur mainly on outer non-weight bearing layer of the skin. Calluses occur most often on the heels and balls of the feet, the knees, and the palms of the hands. However, they can develop on any part of the body that is subject to repeated pressure or irritation.
Symptoms
Corns are hard sores shaped like inverted pyramids. They may appear as thick lumps found on the tips of the toes, or small, inflamed skin that can be found in between toes.
They are sometimes mistaken for painful and infective warts that occur on the soles of the feet.
Causes
Corns form as a result of constant pressure from wearing tight shoes or socks/stockings, standing/walking for a long time without resting, or activities that requires the two body part pinch, rub each other causing too much pressure and irritation on the skin.
Home Remedies
Licorice: Make a paste by grinding 3-4 licorice sticks and mix it with half-teaspoon of sesame or mustard oil. Rub it in the affected area before bedtime. It softens the hardened skin and decreases its size.
Lemon: Tie a fresh slice of lemon over the painful area overnight.
Papaya: Make a teaspoon of papaya juice and apply it on the corns thrice daily.
Indian squill: Roast a bulb of Indian squill and hold it secured with bandage on the inflamed area overnight.
Green figs: Extract half a teaspoon of green fig juices and apply it 2-3 daily to soften the corns.
Chalk powder: Make a paste by mixing chalk powder with water and applying it over the affected area.
Diets
Have a nutritious diet consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables for they contain vitamins and minerals that are essential for health.
Other Treatments
Wear shoes with the correct shoe size so as to prevent any pressure that could occur between the feet and the shoe material such as hard leathers.
Use corn caps, or medicated plaster that works great for instant remover for corns.
Wash feet regularly when soft corns occur. Dry it before applying talcum powder to lessen the friction between toe skins.
