  • Dysphagia

    (1) Comment
Posted by Home Remedies Solution on 10th, 2009

A Dysphagia occurs when the trachea is swollen, blocked or constricted due to choking on your food when having a meal. During this instance, the patient is unable to breath and experiences a painful sensation at the base of their throat. Home remedies can be applied until medical assistance is deemed necessary.

    Symptoms of Dysphagia

When an individual’s throat is blocked, the patient has difficulty in swallowing food particles, which turns to gagging and inability to speak clearly. Their faces turn on a bluish or purple color due to lack of oxygen. They feel pain in the chest, neck or abdomen. They will later feel the need to vomit, and have sudden dislike of solid foods.

Other symptoms are increased drooling and high-pitched breathing.

    Causes of Dysphagia

Key causes of Dysphagia are due to eating too fast, swallowing food immediately without chewing them properly, food consumption despite intake of alcohol, and eating unconsciously.

Home Remedies / Natural Treatment for Dysphagia

    Egg:

Swallow an uncooked egg yolk and egg white. It can help remove Dysphagias.

    Drinking:

Drink plenty of liquids or water, or swallow whole bread. Wait for 30-60 minutes to remove Dysphagias.

    Rice:

Swallow a lump of boiled rice if the patient has fish bone trapped in their throat. The fish bone will sticky to the boiled rice and add more weight to the bone, pushing it downwards the throat to the stomach to be digested. Swallow a bread if rice is not available.

    Vinegar:

Gargle with a vinegar when choking on a larger piece of chicken or fish bone. The vinegar will make the bone soften and easy to swallow. Follow with swallowing a whole piece of bread or rice.

    Root of clematis:

Mix clematis root with vinegar and brown sugar. Sip while still hot. It will remove the trapped bone in the throat and will provide relief from irritation.

    Heimlich maneuver:

Wrap your arms around a person’s waist while standing behind him/her. Make a fist on one hand. Place the thumb above the person’s navel, just below the breastbone. Place your other hand on the fist and make an upward and inward thrust quickly. This movement will compress the lungs and expel any food particle that is trapped in between the airways. Do this treatment until the trapped object inside the throat is removed.

    For obese or pregnant people:

Wrap your arms around the person’s chest. Make fist and place it in the middle of breastbone. Make a quick backward thrust.

Another method is to pull the tongue forward and try to reach for the trapped bone using your hand.

     Diet Suggestions for Dysphagia

Eat your food carefully especially if the meal had fish and meat in it. Drink plenty of liquids or swallow lumps of rice and bread to clear the throat of any possible obstructions.

    Further Suggestions for Dysphagia

Eat food slowly. It let you appreciate how the food tastes and will make you enjoy your meals.

Avoid eating in haste. It will lead to Dysphagia and indigestion.

    Stop Diarrhea Naturally

Posted by Remedy Solution on 29th, 2008

Diarrhea is not exactly a disease, but it often signals an underlying condition, such as food poisoning, allergy, IBS (or Irritable Bowel Syndrome), alcohol overdose, lactose intolerance, and the like.

There is usually stomach pain in diarrhea, and continuous passage of watery stools which can be very uncomfortable, and embarrassing, more so if you are off to an important meeting or engagement when it happens.

It is essential that you treat diarrhea before it worsens to prevent dehydration and loss of electrolytes which can lead to very serious complications.

Loperamide is always the drug of choice in treating diarrhea. Then again, there are natural and healthier ways of getting rid of it. Here are a dozen of the most common home remedies for diarrhea:

    1. Drink a cup of chamomile tea. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory effects and has been found to work wonders in reducing the pain associated with diarrhea.

    2. Blueberries and bilberries (minus the seeds) can stop diarrhea naturally.

    3. The root bark of blackberry is said to be very powerful in treating diarrhea. Mix one teaspoon of the blackberry tincture with water every two to four hours to relieve yourself of the manifestations of diarrhea.

    4. Vinegar is another miracle cure for diarrhea. Take one tablespoon of vinegar every hour until the diarrhea stops.

    5. Ginger tea or juice can reduce stomach cramps associated with diarrhea.

    6. Mint juice is also effective in treating diarrhea. Mix a teaspoon of mint juice with a teaspoon of lime juice and another teaspoon of honey.

    7. Green bananas are also effective in treating diarrhea. Try eating a piece of green banana every two to four hours until you feel an improvement in your condition.

    8. Cooked carrots can help a lot in providing the much needed bulk and in replenishing your body of the lost nutrients.

    9. Some have sworn to have been relieved of diarrhea by drinking a cup of black coffee.

    10. Others recommend drinking cooled water with a teaspoon of cinnamon and sugar to taste.

    11. Hydration is very important when you have diarrhea. Drink water mixed with one teaspoon of salt and one teaspoon of sugar to restore the lost electrolytes.

    12. Rest your stomach. Avoid taking in milk and milk products (with the exception of yogurt), beans, cabbage, bread and pasta.

    Dessert remedies for Acne

    (1) Comment
Posted by Remedy Solution on 10th, 2008

We all know that most desserts can cause acne due to the high volume of sugars and carbohydrates in cakes, cookies, ice cream, chocolate and other unfortunately delicious treats. Of course if you eat a slice of cake for example, you might not see a difference. But a few more slices, that would depend on your body and some people will certainly notice and feel a difference in their skin. There are however ways to resolve a sweet tooth which is not only safe for your skin but will also improve your acne and parts of your body.

    Green (Mung) bean dessert

Green beans (also known as Mung beans) has properties to remove the inner heat, similar to Green Tea and Chrysanthemum Tea. To prepare the Green beans, first wash and strain it like washing rice. Boil a pot of hot water and add the Green beans. Lower the temperature and slowly cook the Green beans for about an hour or until you see the beans open up. Afterwards to add flavor, either use soya milk with cane sugar or honey. Soya bean milk not only have isoflavones to prevent testosterone from being converted into DHT (dihydrotestosterone) resulting in breakouts, but some soya milk will also have lecithin which gives nutrition to your brain for improving memory. Keep in mind, Red beans on the contrary does not have the same properties as Green beans and will put stress to your liver. So be careful and avoid the Red bean with icecream dessert drinks in most restaurants. Green bean with hot soya milk, is a good way to keep warm and enjoy the winter rather than drinking hot chocolate. But since it’s the summer, it tastes just as good when served chilled. You can also add some small chunks of watermelon to also help fight acne while giving the drink more texture, and a pinch (only a pinch) of coconut powder to give it a unique smell and taste.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!
