Esophagitis

When the lining of the esophagus, the tube that carries food from throat to the stomach become inflamed, swollen, or irritated it is called Esophagitis.

This condition causes great discomfort to the affected person, immediate action must undertake to avoid further complications.

Causes

  • Reflux of stomach contents (GERD)
  • Excessive vomiting
  • Esophageal Obstruction
  • Infections (Viral and Bacterial)
  • Injury from chemicals
  • Radiation injury

Symptoms

  • Fever
  • Hernias
  • Difficulty when swallowing
  • Pain when swallowing
  • Feeling like something is stuck in the throat
  • Burning sensation in the esophagus
  • Acid reflux (heartburn)
  • Shortness of breath due to obstructed throat
  • Bleeding, either as blood in vomit or in stools

Home Remedies / Treatment

Garlic Pills:
Take 2 to 3 garlic pills daily, best remedy for candida esophagitis

Milk:
Drink a glass of cold milk for immediate relief

Yogurt:
Yogurt consumption everyday is one of the best natural remedies for throat infection

Ginger Tea:
Drink ginger tea in with honey after each meals. Tea should be allowed to cool before drinking

Raw Ginger
Its should be used as a lozenge, use a desirable size of ginger wash and peeled and use as lozenge, stay in the mouth at least 30 minutes twice daily

Diets

Eat 5 or 6 smaller meals during the day instead of 3 larger ones
Eat soft foods, such as puddings, applesauce, soups, custards
Eat small bites of food and chew thoroughly before swallowing

Prevention

Avoid Smoking
Avoid spicy foods
No alcohol consumption
Use straw in drinking beverages
Avoid acidic foods and beverages like citrus juices and tomato-based products.
Hard foods that can cause pain in the esophagus when swallowed
Elevate the head of the bed 8 to 10 inches or sleep on a wedge pillow
