Although wrinkles are part of the aging process, there are certain conditions that cause them to appear much earlier. The layers of the skin under the eyes are thin and fragile so they tend to break easily. Some women go to the extent of submitting themselves to surgical procedures in the hope of diminishing the lines. This can be very expensive though not to mention risky. Natural and organic sunblock creams make a great alternative to these procedures. But apart from that, there are natural ways you can prevent or delay the onset of eye wrinkles. For instance, avoid squinting. So use dark glasses or a wide-brimmed hat when you go out. You should also avoid pulling or tugging at the skin around the eyes when you wash your face and put on make up. It’s been suggested to use your ring finger when you have to apply a concealer, foundation or moisturizer because it’s a weaker finger so you won’t have to apply too much pressure on the area.

Ear pain depends on where the pain originated. Causes may either due to traumas and/or ear infection

Three sections of human ears:

Outer

Middle

Inner ear

Two types of Ear Pain

* Otitis media – inflammation of the middle ear that is common on children
* Otitis externa – infection of the outer ear and is common during winter season

Symptoms of Ear Pain

Symptoms for otitis media include catching fever or a minor illness, dizziness, fluid or pus discharge, hearing problems, itchiness, painful sensation and vomiting.

For otitis externa, there is itchiness in the infected ear, inflammation accompanied by fluid discharges, severe pain even by the slightest movement of the jaw or ear lobes, slight fever, and temporary decline in hearing.

Causes of Ear Pain

Otitis media is primarily caused by a blockage of the eustachian tubes, an air passageway that is found in the middle of your middle ear and throat. It can be due to cold, allergies or other respiratory problems. This blockage allows entry to bacteria to build up in the middle ear and cause infection. Ear drums may swell if infected by a virus. Although infant and children are the main targets, it can also affect adults.

Otitis externa is the inflammation of the outer ear and the ear canal. It can be caused by none, or both bacterial and fungal infections. It is often called the “swimmer’s ear” primarily because the condition is most prevalent to swimmers and those who have prolonged exposure to water. Swimming in contaminated water will trigger this condition as there are chances bacteria can infect the skin, especially if there are ear impairments.

Nutritional deficiency, allergy and other infections are also some factors that may cause ear infections.

Home Remedies / Treatment for Ear Pain

Garlic:
Put few drops of garlic juice into the infected ear.

Blow dry:
This is to remove excess water trapped in the Eustachian tube, use a blow dryer from about 12 to 15 inches from your head.

Olive oil:
Using a warm spoon, put 2 to 3 drops of olive oil in each ear.

Lobelia:
Put few drops of lobelia extract into the infected ear and rub it gently.

Colloidal Silver:
It is a natural antibiotic that the patient can use to wash and clean their ears.
Mango: Put few drops of mango juice in the infected ear using a warm teaspoon.

Diets Suggestions for Ear Pain

Eat lots of foods reach in calcium and vitamin C to boost your immune system and help fight infection. You can also take in tablet form.

Zinc will also help reduce ear infection.

Avoid processed foods and foods that are rich in hydrogenated oils.

Breast-feeding is the most effective way to combat any infection for infants.

Other Treatments for Ear Pain

Stay away from smoke fumes as it blocks the Eustachian tube passageway.
Stay away from people with colds.
Keep your hands clean when touching your ear by washing it regularly in antibacterial

Elephantiasis is a this kind of parasitical disease is prevalent among tropical and subtropical areas.

This thread-like, parasitic filarial worms Wuchereria bancrofti and Brugia malayi that cause lymphatic filariasis, they live almost only in humans. These worms stays in the lymphatic system, the network of nodes and vessels that maintain the delicate fluid balance between the tissues and blood and are an essential component for the body’s immune defence system. Filarial Worms live for 4-6 years, producing millions of immature minute larvae that circulate in the blood.

A primary cause of this increase is the rapid and unplanned growth of cities, which creates numerous breeding sites for the mosquitoes that transmit the disease.

Cause of Elephantiasis

This disease is transmitted by mosquitoes that feed on blood of infected person, the filarial larva develop inside the mosquito, migrates to the mosquitoes’ biting mouth ready to enter the skin following the mosquito bite to complete their life cycle.

Once transmitted, in due time it causes enlargement of the entire leg or arm, the genitals, vulva and breasts.

Symptoms of Elephantiasis

The development of this disease in humans is still something of a question to modern science, since the infection can be acquired in early childhood. Though the infection is generally acquired early in childhood, the disease may take years to manifest itself.

The worst symptoms of this chronic disease usually appear in adults, and in men more often than in women. In especially hydrosol and elephantiasis of the penis and scrotum.

And in both slowing and, even more remarkably, reversing much of the overt damage that has occurred already.

In endemic areas, chronic and acute manifestations of filariasis tend to develop more often and sooner in refugees or newcomers than in local populations continually exposed to infection. Lymphoedema may develop within six months and elephantiasis as quickly as a year after arrival.

Until very recently, diagnosing lymphatic filariasis had been extremely difficult, since parasites had to be detected microscopically in the blood, and in most parts of the world, the parasites have a “nocturnal periodicity” that restricts their appearance in the blood to only the hours around midnight. The new development of a very sensitive, very specific simple “card test” to detect circulating parasite antigens without the need for laboratory facilities and using only finger-prick blood droplets taken anytime of the day has completely transformed the approach to diagnosis. With this and other new diagnostic tools, it will now be possible both to improve our understanding of where the infection actually occurs and to monitor more easily the effectiveness of treatment and control program.

Treatment of Elephantiasis

Primary goal of treating the affected person is to eliminate microfilariae from the blood of infected individuals so that transmission of the infection by the mosquito can be halted

Treating the individual. Both albendazole and DEC have been shown to be effective in killing the adult-stage filarial parasites.

Black walnut oil:
One or two drops are sufficient enough in a glass of water, drink two times a day.

Cloves:
Use more cloves with every meal. Adding some to foods will help kill the eggs from parasites in the intestinal tract. Cloves added to coffee or an herbal tea adds better taste.

Apple cider:
Mix one or two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in one glass of water. Alternatively, you can take one tablespoon daily of 1 part apple cider vinegar, 2 parts apple juice, 1 part apple brandy.

Pumpkin seeds and onions mixed with soymilk:
Good remedy for almost all type of worm eradication.

Prevention for Elephantiasis

Keep your environment clean.

Epistaxis is also known as Nose bleeding. It must be attended with to be sure t is just common or an underlying cause of much complicated health related problem.

Symptoms

The nose is a part of the body that is vulnerable in trauma. It is rich in blood vessels and may bleed continuously if the nasal membranes is crusted, dried out, or cracked. Which is common in dry climatic condition, or during the winter months when the air is dry and warm from heaters. People are more susceptible if taking medications that prevent normal blood clotting (e.g Aspirin, Coumadin, warfarin, or any anti-inflammatory medication). Other factors includes alcohol abuse, infection, allergic and non-allergic rhinitis, trauma, hypertension, and other genetic related problems.

Causes

Nose bleeding happens due to numerous reasons, from simple injuries into hypertension.

Nose bleeding or Epistaxis in youngsters is somewhat complex but it mainly occurs due to injury in the nose area. For youngsters it is common during summer season, and for adults it might be due to high blood pressure especially if the diastolic pressure is above 110mm/hg. Exposure to extreme heat during summer or fire can also cause nose bleeding.

Treatment

Some of the following must be done in order to stop nose bleeding:

Cold Water:
The person experiencing nose bleeding must wash the head and face area.

Icepack:
For compress around the external nose and in the neck area

Pomegranate flowers:
Extract the juice and use as inhaler

Tissue paper:
Make a small cylindrical form of tissue paper, and put it between your upper lip and upper frontal gums (this should stop the bleeding)

Other treatments

Don’t sneeze
Don’t l lie down
Avoid pressure on the nose area
Avoid foods that may cause severe allergic reaction, like milk and wheat.
People who are prone to nosebleeds, should avoid high humidity environment
Consume citrus fruits daily, it helps in eliminating recurrence of nosebleeds
Eat raw peanuts its rich in vitamin K a known vitamin that combats nose bleeding

Put few drops of vitamin E or zinc oxide and castor oil, in nose area everyday can prevent recurring nosebleeds.
Maintain moisture in your nostrils, use petroleum jelly to keep the moisture or do frequent bathing (around 3 times a day). Saline solution spray can be helpful.

Epiglottitis is a term used for inflammation of the cartilage that covers the trachea or windpipe called Epiglottis. Due to its place which is the in the airway, inflammation of epiglottis can result into difficulty in breathing, that sometimes causes death.

The epiglottis is a flap-like tissue that sits at the base area of the tongue; it is also responsible for food that keeps from going into the trachea or windpipe during swallowing. When the epiglottis gets infected and inflammation occurred it can obstruct, or close off the windpipe.

Causes

Epiglottitis inflammation involves bacterial infection most often caused by Haemophilus influenzae type B, although some cases are attributed to Streptococcus pneumoniae or Streptococcus pyogenes.

Symptoms

Epiglottitis commonly affects children, associated with fever, difficulty swallowing, drooling, and stridor. The early symptoms are insidious but rapidly progressive, and swelling of the throat may lead to cyanosis and asphyxiation. Cases in adults are most typically seen amongst abusers of crack cocaine and have a more sub acute presentation.

Treatment

Cloves and garlic:
In paste form combination of three cloves and cloves of garlic, add one cup of honey. Eat with spoonful two to three times a day

Betel leaves with Licorice:
Eat raw, two to three times a day.

Almonds:
Soak eight to ten almonds, and grind with eight to ten peppercorns. Mix in 1 cup of water. Sieve and drink adding either salt or sugar to taste.

Fenugreek:
In tea form, made with two tbsp of fenugreek seeds boiled in 6 cups of water.

Warm Milk:
Warm a cup of milk. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and drink before going to bed.

Onion:
Boil one whole onion, mash and eat with a little butter, salt and pepper OR Soak finely chopped onion in honey for a day. Strain out the onion and drink two tsp of the honey daily.

Patients with Epiglottitis should be administered with antibiotic drug s either alone or in association with penicillin or ampicillin for streptococcal coverage.

Epiglottitis, if in severe stage requires urgent endotracheal intubation to protect the airway. If intubation fails, tracheotomy is required.
