In endometriosis, the endometrium is unable to discharge itself out of the body and redirected instead outside the uterus and other parts of the body; mainly the ovary, uterus fallopian tubes, and pelvic cavity. It generally occurs during pre-menopausal stage or before pregnancy, which earns it nickname “career woman’s disease”.

    Symptoms
Common symptoms shared by women include menstrual cramps in the lower abdomen accompanied by back pains, pain during urination and defecation, painful sexual intercourse, irregular and excessive bleeding, and infertility.

    Causes
There are no solid explanations pointing to the exact causes of endometriosis. However, several theories were formed to provide

Retrograde Menstrual Theory states that a reversal in the direction of menstrual flow sends discarded endometrial cells into the body cavity where they attach to internal organs and seed endometrial implants.

Vascular-lymphatic theory proposes that the lymph system or blood vessels transports the endometrial cells out of the uterus.

Another theory concerning heredity states that endometriosis for some women is carried through the genes of family members who suffer from this condition.

Herbs: Cramp bark, chaste berry, cohosh and false unicorn root relieve symptoms of endometriosis.

Ginger: Make a cup of ginger tea and drink it to treat nausea due to endometriosis.

Ice Pack: When experiencing pain during menstrual cycles, apply an ice pack or a heating pad on your lower abdominal area.

Fish contains omega-3 fatty acids that help in suppressing prostaglandin production.

Eat foods that are rich in vitamin B and fibers and low in fat. Samples of these foods are fresh fruits and vegetables, salads, cereals, flax seed oil, whole grains.

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, dairy products, sugar, red meat and all fried and processed foods.

    Other suggestions
Do physical exercises regularly to reduce estrogen levels and prevent the risk of getting endometriosis.

Refrain from using tampon during menstrual periods.

    1. Hi everyone, I discovered an article that might be relevant to the topic discussed here. It claims that 70% of women were able to get rid of their acne in about 3 months, according a study of 117 women. The researchers used a natural therapy of Chasteberry, also known as Vitex. Click here for more about
chasteberry and acne in Dr. Nancy Dunne’s article.
