Hay Fever
Hay Fever is a chronic allergic condition of the upper respiratory system, the eyes and the nose. Air dust and tree, grass or weed pollen is its common allergens. Spring and fall are the season for contracting hay fever. However, it can also occur depending on the patient’s sensitivity to allergens.
In medical terminology, it is also called pollinosis, allergic rhinitis, or simply nasal allergies.
Symptoms
Coughing, fatigue, having trouble sleeping, headache, and itchiness in the eyes, ear, skin, mouth and throat are some of its symptoms.
There’s also runny noise, sneezing, sore throat, and wheezing to finish with.
Causes
Pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds are the most common allergen that causes hay fever. These pollens disperse through the air are inhaled by the body through the mouth and nose and enters the throat and the lungs.
Home Remedies
Honey: Mince some grapefruit and lemon. Boil it then add some honey. Take this 3 times a day.
Petroleum jelly: Apply petroleum jelly in the interior surface of the nose.
Chamomile: Boil some chamomile in water. Inhale the steam coming from the boiling water to relieve oneself of hay fever.
Diets
Have a well-balanced diet consisting of nutritious foods that contains essential vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin C and those that are good source of protein.
Filtered water and herbal teas are significant remedy for hay fever.
Stay away from dairy products, flour, salt and sugar for 1 week.
Other suggestions
Pollen presence in the atmosphere is abundant during early mornings and late evenings. Avoid going out during these times.
Usage of nasal spray for 3 consecutive days will worsen nasal congestion.
Avoid smoking and stay away from polluted air.
