Low blood sugar, also known as Hypoglycemia, pertains to a drop in blood sugar (or blood glucose) level below normal that makes the body unable to provide energy and stability in its cells.

Symptoms
Initial signs and symptoms for low blood sugar level is an unusually excessive craving for sweets and starch. When it reaches abnormally low level, symptoms such as fatigue, depression, faulty vision, headaches, irritability, and nervousness began to appear.

Other symptoms include loss of concentration, dizziness, heart palpitation, numbness, perspiration, sexual turmoil, and trembling.

Most patient has the tendency to consume food repeatedly to relieve irritability and body weakness.

Take a teaspoonful of sugar and seek professional help if given any instances of symptoms indicating a drop in blood sugar level below normal.

Causes
Excessive intake of sugar and refined carbohydrates makes the pancreas, adrenal glands, and the liver to process sugar improperly. Other conditions that contribute to low blood sugar level are tumor or disorders of the adrenal glands, pituitary glands, and liver. Stress aggravates this condition.

Home Remedies
Vitamins: Take vitamins C and B to increase tolerance of sugar and carbohydrates, which in turn help normalize sugar metabolism. Pantothenic acid and vitamin B6 will build up adrenals for lethargic individuals. Vitamin E promotes storage of glycogen in the muscles and tissues. Take 2,000 – 5,000 mg of vitamin C, 50 mg of vitamin B6, and up to 1,600 IU of vitamin E daily.

Apples: Eat peeled apples after each meal.

Molasses: Make a sherbet out of molasses. Take it moderately to prevent faintness, and heal abnormally low blood sugar level due to over exertion or malnutrition. Molasses are excellent replacement for the supply of glucose in the body.

Diets
Undergo a diet consisting mainly of raw seeds, nuts and grains, supplemented by fruits, vegetables, milk and milk products, and vegetable oils. Grains should be cooked for easy digestion and to help release sugar to the blood 6-8 hours after meals. This will maintain a normal blood sugar level for a long period of time.

Take 6-8 meals a day instead of the usual 2-3.

Eat raw nuts and seeds such as pumpkin or sunflower seeds. Drink milk, buttermilk and fruit juices in-between meals.

Avoid alcohol, coffee, sodas, white sugar and white flour products, and all refined or processed foods.

Limit salt intake for its excessive consumption will lessen the amount of potassium in the blood, causing the blood sugar level to drop below normal.
