Nausea
Nausea is not a form of illness, but rather a symptom of an underlying medical condition. It is characterized by uneasiness and discomfort in the stomach with an urge to vomit.
Symptoms
Patients suffering from nausea suffer from dizziness, stomach pains, body weakness and excessive perspiration.
Causes
Digestive tract disorders, morning sickness due to pregnancy, motion/sea sickness, prolonged stress, excessive alcohol and drug intake, overeating, and undergoing chemotherapy or other form of medication may trigger the onset of nausea.
However, certain food can also make a person nauseous. This kind of condition is called food intolerance. Yeast, dairy, sugar, and wheat products may produce this kind of effect depending on a person’s suitability to food.
Nausea is also a sign of an underlying medical condition such as cancer, depression, diabetes, diarrhea, fever, abdominal pain, gallstones, headache, gastroenteritis, pancreatitis and many others.
Home Remedies
Non-carbonated syrup: Consume 1-2 tablespoon of non-carbonated syrup. Syrup formulas contain carbohydrates that help relive stomach pains.
Ginger root: Take 2 capsules of ginger root to relieve of nausea.
Ginger: Use a fresh piece of ginger when preparing your tea.
Herbs: Drink a mild tea or ginger ale to soothe the stomach. Candies made of slippery elm and raspberry are also helpful.
Teas: Drink peppermint of chamomile tea to get rid of nausea.
Apple cider vinegar: Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon honey in cold water. Take it before going to bed to relieve nausea during morning sickness for pregnant ladies.
Wheat germ: Mix wheat germ with milk. Take a few teaspoons every hour to relieve of nausea during morning sickness.
Rice water: Boil ½ cup of rice in 1 cup of water for 10-20 minutes. Drain rice. Consume rice water from it.
Cumin seed: Ground ½ teaspoon of cumin seed to relieve of nausea and vomiting.
Diets
Eat smaller quantity of food.
Eat fiber-rich diet consisting of bananas, rice, toast and apple sauce one you start feeling better.
Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Avoid spicy, oily and junk foods.
Further Suggestions
Practice acupressure by applying pressure between the thumb and forefinger. It will prevent vomiting and relieve the patient of nausea.
