Nose bleeding is also known in medical terms as Epistaxis. It must be attended with to be sure t is just common or an underlying cause of much complicated health related problem.
Symptoms
The nose is a part of the body that is vulnerable in trauma. It is rich in blood vessels and may bleed continuously if the nasal membranes is crusted, dried out, or cracked. Which is common in dry climatic condition, or during the winter months when the air is dry and warm from heaters. People are more susceptible if taking medications that prevent normal blood clotting (e.g Aspirin, Coumadin, warfarin, or any anti-inflammatory medication). Other factors includes alcohol abuse, infection, allergic and non-allergic rhinitis, trauma, hypertension, and other genetic related problems.
Causes
Nose bleeding happens due to numerous reasons, from simple injuries into hypertension.
Nose bleeding or Epistaxis in youngsters is somewhat complex but it mainly occurs due to injury in the nose area. For youngsters it is common during summer season, and for adults it might be due to high blood pressure especially if the diastolic pressure is above 110mm/hg. Exposure to extreme heat during summer or fire can also cause nose bleeding.
Treatment
Some of the following must be done in order to stop nose bleeding:
Cold Water:
The person experiencing nose bleeding must wash the head and face area.
Icepack:
For compress around the external nose and in the neck area
Pomegranate flowers:
Extract the juice and use as inhaler
Tissue paper:
Make a small cylindrical form of tissue paper, and put it between your upper lip and upper frontal gums (this should stop the bleeding)
Other treatments
Don’t sneeze
Don’t l lie down
Avoid pressure on the nose area
Avoid foods that may cause severe allergic reaction, like milk and wheat.
People who are prone to nosebleeds, should avoid high humidity environment
Consume citrus fruits daily, it helps in eliminating recurrence of nosebleeds
Eat raw peanuts its rich in vitamin K a known vitamin that combats nose bleeding
Put few drops of vitamin E or zinc oxide and castor oil, in nose area everyday can prevent recurring nosebleeds.
Maintain moisture in your nostrils, use petroleum jelly to keep the moisture or do frequent bathing (around 3 times a day). Saline solution spray can be helpful.
