Neuritis

Neuritis refers to an inflammation of the peripheral nervous system. It is called polyneuritis when several groups of nerves from various parts of the body are affected.

Symptoms
Main symptoms are burning sensation and stinging pain in the nerves.

In acute cases, the patient may not be able to close their eyes due to loss of muscle strength on the affected sides of the face.

In severe cases, there is numbness, loss of five senses function, and temporary paralysis of the nearby muscles such as the face.

Causes
The presence of toxins and other fluids in the body are the main cause of this disease. This could be due to erroneous lifestyle, nutritional deficiency, faulty diet, metabolic disorders or overworking.

Some that may contributed to its causes are severe bruises, bone fracture, nerve pressure, certain infections such as diabetes mellitus, and poisoning with arsenic, alcohol, insecticides, and mercury.

Home Remedies
Soymilk: Mix 1 cup of soymilk and 1 teaspoon of honey. Take it every night. It contains vitamin B, lecithin, and glutamic acid that tones up the nervous system.

To make homemade soymilk, soak soybeans in water for 12 hours. Remove the skins and wash it thoroughly. Ground into a fine paste by using a grinding machine. Mix with equal parts water. Boil milk on slow fire while stirring it frequently. Let it chill for a while. Strain using cheesecloth. Add some sugar.

Barley: Boil 1 cup of pearled barley rain in ½ cup of water. Strain after the water lowers down to a quarter its original amount. Mix with a ½ glass of butter and juice of ½ lime for more desirable results.

Carrot and spinach: Mix 300 ml of carrot juice and 200 ml of spinach juice to make ½ liter of these juices. Drink daily.

Orange flowers: Make a juice extract from orange flowers. The best source is from flowers of bitter oranges. Eat 10 gm of orange flowers mixed with honey everyday to soothe the nerves.

Vitamin B complex: Vitamin B1, B2, B6, B12 and panthotenic acid can relieve numbness, weakness and extreme pain associated with neuritis within an hour.

Diet
Have an optimum nutritious diet consisting of milk, yogurt, homemade cottage cheese, raw and sprouted seeds, brown rice, and whole grains, particularly whole wheat.

For severe cases, undergo a short juice diet for 4-5 days before the optimum diet. Drink juices made of apples, beets, carrots, citrus or pineapples.

Avoid tea, coffee, condiments, sugar, white bread, refined cereals, meat, fish and tinned foods.

Further Suggestions
Take 2-3 hot Epsom salt baths weekly. When bathing, stay for 25-30 minutes.

Wash affected parts on a container filled with 1 cup of hot water and mixed with 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt. Do this everyday.

Do light exercises such as walking.

Nephritis

Nephritis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the kidneys that often strikes during the childhood or adolescent stage, and may develop progressively into death if untreated properly during its early stage.

Symptoms
Primary symptoms for acute nephritis include fever, dull back pains, kidney pains that extends down to the ureter, scarce and highly colored urine. The urine may often contain blood, albumin, and red and white cells casts in clumps.

Other symptoms are puffiness of face, and swollen feet and ankles. It usually follow a throat infection caused by streptococcus bacteria, and scarlet or rheumatic fever.

Chronic symptoms include passes of large amount of albumin in the urine. They may also develop high blood pressure and uremia.

Causes
A weak and fragile body state coupled with faulty diets will pave way to the occurrence of this disease.

Home Remedies
Carrot: Mix 1 glass of carrot juice, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of fresh limejuice. Drink it everyday first thing in the morning.

Bananas: Take an exclusive banana diet for 3-4 days. Consume 8-9 bananas each day during this period. It is high in carbohydrate and low in protein and salt, which makes it effective in combating this disease.

Avocado: The avocado fruit is low in protein and contains several minerals necessary in treating nephritis.

Grapes: Eat grapes to cure acute and chronic nephritis. They are exceptional diuretic with it high water and potassium salt content. It enhances kidney functions with it low albumin and sodium chloride content.

Coconut water: Drink water from a green and tender coconut once or twice a day. Coconut water is an excellent diuretic in treating kidney diseases.

Diets
The safest treatment for acute nephritis is to undergo vegetable juice diet for 7-10 days. This will eliminate the toxins that cause the inflammation of the kidney. Follow with an exclusive fruit diet for 4-5 days.

Next is to take a fruit and milk diet for a week, then a low-protein vegetarian diet consisting of fresh fruits, and raw and steamed vegetables.

For chronic nephritis, take juice diet for 3 days. Follow with a restricted diet for 10 days. For breakfast, eat oranges or drink orange juices. For lunch, eat salads made of raw vegetables available during the current season. For dinner, eat 1 or 2 steamed vegetables and a few nuts.

Take another short juice diet and a restricted diet for 1 week every 2-3 month intervals until the kidney resume their normal function.

Avoid foods that contains oxalic acid such as cocoa, chocolate, spinach and rhubarb.

Avoid taking salt.

Eat 5-6 small meals instead of the usual large ones.

Further Suggestions
Administer a warm water enema everyday during the initial juice diet.

Nausea

Nausea is not a form of illness, but rather a symptom of an underlying medical condition. It is characterized by uneasiness and discomfort in the stomach with an urge to vomit.

Symptoms
Patients suffering from nausea suffer from dizziness, stomach pains, body weakness and excessive perspiration.

Causes
Digestive tract disorders, morning sickness due to pregnancy, motion/sea sickness, prolonged stress, excessive alcohol and drug intake, overeating, and undergoing chemotherapy or other form of medication may trigger the onset of nausea.

However, certain food can also make a person nauseous. This kind of condition is called food intolerance. Yeast, dairy, sugar, and wheat products may produce this kind of effect depending on a person’s suitability to food.

Nausea is also a sign of an underlying medical condition such as cancer, depression, diabetes, diarrhea, fever, abdominal pain, gallstones, headache, gastroenteritis, pancreatitis and many others.

Home Remedies
Non-carbonated syrup: Consume 1-2 tablespoon of non-carbonated syrup. Syrup formulas contain carbohydrates that help relive stomach pains.

Ginger root: Take 2 capsules of ginger root to relieve of nausea.

Ginger: Use a fresh piece of ginger when preparing your tea.

Herbs: Drink a mild tea or ginger ale to soothe the stomach. Candies made of slippery elm and raspberry are also helpful.

Teas: Drink peppermint of chamomile tea to get rid of nausea.

Apple cider vinegar: Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon honey in cold water. Take it before going to bed to relieve nausea during morning sickness for pregnant ladies.

Wheat germ: Mix wheat germ with milk. Take a few teaspoons every hour to relieve of nausea during morning sickness.

Rice water: Boil ½ cup of rice in 1 cup of water for 10-20 minutes. Drain rice. Consume rice water from it.

Cumin seed: Ground ½ teaspoon of cumin seed to relieve of nausea and vomiting.

Diets
Eat smaller quantity of food.

Eat fiber-rich diet consisting of bananas, rice, toast and apple sauce one you start feeling better.

Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Avoid spicy, oily and junk foods.

Further Suggestions
Practice acupressure by applying pressure between the thumb and forefinger. It will prevent vomiting and relieve the patient of nausea.
