Peptic Ulcer
Peptic ulcer is a type of ulcer that takes place when the inner lining of the stomach and the adjoining intestinal tract called duodenum forms an eroded lesion. Gastric ulcer is termed for ulcer that takes place in the stomach. Duodenal ulcer takes places in the duodenum. They are collectively known as peptic ulcer.
Symptoms
Sharp and severe pain and discomfort in the upper abdomen are primary symptoms of peptic ulcer.
Gastric pains usually occur 1 hour after each meal. It rarely occurs at night. Duodenal ulcer pain takes place in between meals. Eating food or drinking milk can relieve it. Prolonged ulcer pain leads to insomnia, mental tension, body weakness, and severe flatulence. Blood is also present in the stool.
Causes
Peptic ulcer is caused by hyperacidity, which increases the amount of hydrochloric acid that erodes the inner lining of stomach. Major factors contributing to this condition are drinking coffee and alcohol, cigarette smoking, overeating, and eating heavy meals or spicy foods.
Food poisoning, gout, emotional imbalance, stress, nervous tension, certain infections, and drug intake are also some of the causes of this ulcer.
Home Remedies
Banana: Take a diet consisting of 1 banana a day. Do this 3 or 4 times a day with a glass of milk. Banana contains a special compound that neutralizes the over-acidity of gastric juices and reduces stomach irritation.
Wood apple: Soak 15 gm of wood apple leaves in 250 ml of water. Strain in the morning then drink it. Continue treatment for a few weeks to relieve pain and discomfort.
Bale leaves: Drink beverage prepared using bales leaves. It has mucilage contain that coats the stomach mucosa, which reduces inflammation and heals ulcer completely.
Lime: Drink lime juice for it contains mineral salts that helps improve digestion.
Cabbage: Boil 250 gm of cabbage in 500 ml of water until it is reduced into half. Leave to chill then drink twice daily. Raw cabbage juice is also effective. Mix with 125 ml of carrot juice to neutralize its strong flavor.
Fenugreek seeds: Wash fenugreek seeds in water. Its mucilaginous properties protect the stomach and the intestines from ulcer bacteria.
Drumstick: Ground 10 gm of kalyana murangal leaves into fine paste. Mix with ½ cup of yogurt. Drink daily.
Vegetable juices: Mix 300 ml of carrot juice, 200 ml of spinach juice and drink it. You can also try mixing 300 ml of carrot juice, 100 ml of beet juice and 100 ml of cucumber juice to create 500 ml of these juices.
Almond milk: Blend dry almonds to create almond milk. It is a good source of quality protein and eliminates excess acid in the stomach.
Goat’s milk: Drink a glass of fresh goat’s milk 3 times a day to heal peptic ulcers.
Diets
The diet should consist mainly of fresh fruits, raw and boiled vegetables, milk, cream, butter, natural foods and vitamin supplements. This should help provide the adequate nutrition needed by the body. The body should be able to rest at this rate while neutralizing the gastric acid in the stomach.
