Prostate Disorders

The prostate gland is a male gland around the shape and size of a large chestnut. It is located at the base of the urinary bladder and around the front of urethra. There are various types of disorders that can affect the prostate gland. Most vital to the health are hypertrophy, or enlargement of the prostate gland, and prostatitis, or inflammation of the gland. Men over 50 years of age are more prone to this disease.

Symptoms
Primary symptoms are when there is a difficulty and a frequency in urination at night.

Other conditions that surface when having prostate disorder are presence of dull pains in the lower back and in the hips, legs and feet.

The location of the prostate gland in the body makes it prone to congestion and other disorders. For instance, when standing in an erect position, the pelvic region where the gland is situated falls under great pressure. When a person ages, the body gains more weight and loses its flexibility in all areas. The pelvic region is again pressured thereby leaving the prostate gland weak and vulnerable to infection.

Causes
Prolonged inactivity or posing in a sitting position increases the pressure on the pelvic region. This results in the congestion of tissues in and around the prostate gland. Extreme sexual stimulation may also irritate the glands. A constipated individual suffers from prostate disorders when the feces is hardened and is unable to exit from the body, thereby congesting the rectum or lower bowel with fecal matter.

Acute protatitis are contracted through cold, chill, and other contagious diseases. This can further escalates to a chronic condition.
