Warts

Warts are small, raised tumor commonly found on the hands and feet. They are usually harmless although they may be contagious especially on both children and adults.

Symptoms
Warts usually appear as a rough, raised surfaced on the skin. They come in different shapes and sizes that occur more frequently on the face, scalp, fingers, elbows and knees.

Plantar warts are warts found on the soles of the feet. They are extremely painful that usually makes the patient unable to walk properly.

Causes
Warts are viral infections caused by human papilloma virus (or HPV). Plantar warts are usually due to constant exposure to wet areas such as swimming pools.

Home Remedies
Castor oil: Apply castor oil generously over the affected area every night. Continue treatment for several months.

Figs: Apply freshly extracted juice from semi-ripe figs on the warts several times a day. Continue treatment for 2 weeks.

Potato: Cut raw potatoes and rub them on the affected area several times a day. Continue treatment everyday for at least 2 weeks.

Onion: Cut some onions and rub it on the warts to relieve skin irritation and stimulate blood circulation.

Indian Squill: Apply powdered Indian quill bulb to remove warts.

Dandelion: Cut a stem from the dandelion plant to get the milk coming out from the trimmed end. Apply the milk extract on the warts 2-3 times daily.

Marigold: The juice extract from the leaves or the sap from the stem can be both applied externally to remove warts.

Cashew nut oil: Apply oil extracted from the shell of cashew nut to the affected area.

Chalk powder: Mix chalk powder with water and apply it on the infected area.

Papaya and pineapple juices: These juices can either be drink or applied externally on the affected skin.

Diets
Undergo a fruit diet for 5 days. It should consist of 3 meals of succulent fruits such as apples, oranges, grapes, pineapples, mangoes, pears, and papayas at 5-hour intervals.

Follow with a meal consisting of seeds, nuts, grains, fresh fruits and vegetables.

Undergo another short periods of fruit diet every month until skin condition improves.

Further Suggestions
Administer a warm water enema when having menstruation.
