Tea for Remedies

Tea was discovered in china dated back 2737 B.C. and spread all over the world through open trades. When the ancient times, tea used in ceremonies and in remedies for various illnesses. Using tea as remedy for any given ailment brought various opinion among tea drinkers. However, due to alarming rise of environmental factors, people tend to use more natural products than that of man-made.  Since teas are made of natural ingredients, it is now widely used not just for remedy purposes but also in cosmetics, perfumes, natural drinks and more.

The following are tea concoctions tips that can deal with various illnesses.

Tea for Bladder Infections

Steep for 10 minutes a 2 tsp of mixture made of 1 ½ oz of dried Goldenrod, ¼ oz Juniper Berries, ¾ oz Chopped Dandelion root, ¾ oz chopped Rose Hips in 1 Cup of boiling water, strain

Note: Limit intake of Juniper Berries since they can become toxic if taken more than the acceptable level it is advisable to take up to 2 cups of this mixture daily but not more than 3 days.

Tea for Nursing Mothers

Mix the seeds of 1 teaspoon crushed Fennel seeds with 1 cup boiling water. Cover and steep for 10 minutes. Strain, and sip the infusion it helps to promote the secretion of breast milk for nursing mothers.

Tea for Relaxation

Steep for 10 minutes a mixture of 2 parts chamomile, 1 part lemon balm, 1 part lemon peel, 1 part thyme and place the herbs in a tea ball or bag and cover with boiling water.
After 10 minutes, remove tea ball or bag, and add honey, sweetener, milk, cream or whatever, to taste.

Tea to Reduce Fever

Pour 2 cups of boiling water into the mixture of 2 tsp dried Catnip, and 1 tsp dry Vervain and steep 10 minutes & strain.

Tea for Sore Throat

Steep for 5 minutes a mixture of 1 part Licorice root, 1 part Slippery Elm and 1 part Peppermint. Let cool and remove the herbs and consume.

Tea for Urinary Infection

Simmer the herb mixture for couple of minutes in 1 quart water consist of 1 teaspoon uva ursi, ½ teaspoon each corn silk, cramp bark, marshmallow root and rose hips. Steep them for 20 minutes, strain and drink 2 to 4 cups daily. Continue taking the herbs for 2 days after the symptoms disappear just to make sure that the infection is totally gone.

Tea for Detoxification

Simmer a 1 tsp Green Tea leaves in 1 cup water.  Cover and  let stand 4 minutes and drink.

Tea for Stomach Ache

Cook in a pot with water and add I pod of Star Anise per cup of water and 1 Chamomile tea bag or tea ball.

Tea for Constipation

Take one dose before bedtime (1 cup) of mixture made from 1/2 teaspoon Cascara Sagrada and 1 teaspoon Chamomile in 1 cup of boiling water.

Tea for Insomnia

Mix and add 1 cup of boiling water in 1 ½ oz dried Vervain leaves, 1 oz Chamomile ½ oz Spearmint. Steep for 8 minutes and strain.

Tea for Migraine

Mix 1 2/3 oz dried St John’s Wort, 1 oz Valerian, 1 oz Linden flowers, 1/4 oz Juniper berries. Use 1 tsp of mixture every 1 cup boiling water then steep 10 minutes and strain.

Tea for Headache

Put a pinch of Lavender, Chamomile, Rosemary, Mint in a coffee filter and place in your coffee maker. Wait a half hour before drinking the mixture.

Tea for Nausea

Pour 1 cup of boiling water over a mixture of ½ tsp dried Ginger root, ½ tsp Clove blossoms, 1 tsp Chamomile flowers and steep 10 minutes, strain and cool.

Tea for Colds and Flu

Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 2 tablespoon of mixture made from 1 oz Blackberry leaves, 1 oz Elder flowers, 1 oz Linden flowers, and 1 oz Peppermint leaves, cover and steep 10 minutes and strain.

Tea for Upset Stomach

Use 1 tsp of mixture made from 8 oz Peppermint leaves, 8 oz Lemon Balm leaves, 8 oz Fennel seeds  per 1 cup boiling water then steep 10 minutes and strain.

Tea for Flu

Mix in 1 cup of warm water a mixture of 2 medium cloves of freshly crushed garlic, 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, stir and drink.

Tea for Aches and Pains

Steep in boiling hot water for five minutes a mixture of 1 Tablespoon White Willow Bark and 1 Tablespoon of Catnip.  Drink while it’s hot that you can stand it, and then lie down for a nap.

Tea for Heartburn

Boil 2 pods Star Anise for 5 minutes and steep 1 tablespoon Chamomile and 1 table spoon Peppermint in the Anise tea. Drink one cup every hour for two hours before bedtime.
